I will always remember the emptiness and heartache I felt when my first canine companion was killed. My pain was compounded by those who couldn't comprehend my grieving, after all it was just a dog. I later realized the only ones who could possibly understand were those who had experienced the special kind of love and devotion you receive when you open your heart to an animal. For many of us our pets are part of the family or our best friend. They stands by us unconditionally and the levels of attachments are as individual as we are.
To many the loss of a pet is devastating and sometimes just talking to others that understand can provide some comfort. There are resources available which can aid with the coping process, or if you would like just send me a note and I'll respond with an understanding heart.
