Development Services
Our mission: Development Services manages the development, utilization, and preservation of Jackson County’s natural resources in order to promote and protect the health, safety, and well-being of all citizens. We are organized into 3 distinct programs:
Planning promotes responsible use of land-based resources. We maintain Zoning and a long-range Comprehensive Plan to coordinate development throughout the county. We also review and apply current Land Development Ordinance rules to specific land-use proposals. Planning & Zoning review is the first step in any land development or construction project.
Building administers the State of Oregon’s structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and manufactured dwelling specialty codes. This includes permits and inspections for new construction, modifications to existing structures, and mobile homes.
Code Enforcement assures compliance with the County’s land use, environmental, and construction codes. Code enforcement officers respond to complaints about unauthorized land use or construction.
Note: If your property is located within an incorporated area, many of these services are provided by your local city government rather than Jackson County.
