ORS 249.088 Nomination to Nonpartisan Office

This office can be won at the Primary Election if; only one (1) candidate files for this office in the Primary or two (2) or more candidates file for this office and one(1) receives the majority of votes (50% +1)

A candidate will be nominated at the Primary Election and go forward to the General Election if; two (2) or more candidates file for this office and no one receives the majority of votes at the Primary. The top two (2) vote getters are then nominated to go forward to the General Election.

* Vacancy Note: This nonpartisan office became vacant due to retirement, resignation, recall or death. This vacated office would not normally be printed on the 2012 ballot;

If 1 or 2 candidate(s) file for the office at the Primary they are both considered nominated and go forward to the General Election and their name(s) will be printed on the General Election ballot. The candidate(s) name(s) will not appear on the Primary Election ballot

If three (3) or more candidates file for the office at the Primary, their names will be printed on the Primary Election Ballot. If one (1) candidate receives the majority of votes that candidate is nominated and his/her name will be printed on the General Election ballot. If no candidate receives the majority of votes the top two (2) vote getters will go forward to the General Election and their names will be printed on the General Election ballot.
