Non-certified wood stove removal and destruction options

Metal scrappers

 

  • White City Metals & Supply, located at 7130 Highway 62 in White City (826-3242) - They will compensate for scrap metal and fire brick at 40 dollars per ton (prices fluctuate depending on market conditions).
  • Schnitzer Steel, located at 2625 Avenue G in White City (826-5758) - They will compensate for scrap metal at 40 dollars per ton (prices fluctuate depending on market conditions).  Firebrick must be removed.
  • Cascade Metal Recycling, located at 700 Merlin Rd in Grants Pass (541-479-8017) - They will compensate for scrap metal at 40 dollars per ton (prices fluctuate depending on market conditions).

Retailers providing removal, installation and proof of destruction

  • Orley's Stoves & Spas, located at 3050 Crater Lake Hwy in Medford (779-5340) - They will remove and dispose of old devices and may offer manufacturer discounts on new installations for clients subject to this ordinance.
  • Wood Heating Supply, located at 3600 South Pacific Hwy in Medford (512-0464) - They will remove and dispose of old devices with the purchase and installation of a new device.
  • Home Comfort Hearth & Patio, located at 166 Main Street in Phoenix (535-3080) - They will remove and dispose of old devices with the purchase and installation of a new device.
  • Oregon Heating & Repair, located at 1861 Delta Waters Road in Medford (245-0977) - They will remove and dispose of old devices with the purchase and installation of a new device.
  • Smokey's Stoves, located at 1838 Delta Waters Road in Medford (734-0044) - They will remove and dispose of old devices with the purchase and installation of a new device.

 Low-income assistance

 

  • The housing authority of Jackson County provides assistance to low income families (80 percent of median income) for non-certified solid fuel heating device switch-out.  For more information on low-income assistance contact the housing authority at 857-1118.
  • The United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development offers one percent interest loans as well as grants for qualifying low-income households in rural areas to switch out non-certified wood stoves.  For more information please contact Susan Cherry at 776-4291 (extension 112).
