Thank you for volunteering to become a
Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteer!
An H1N1 pandemic is not the only medical emergency we face here. The Haitian crisis brings home the potential consequences of a local earthquake - and it WILL happen, we just don't know when. We need to be prepared for any emergency that creates a medical surge. Medical Reserve Corps volunteers can be physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who support Southern Oregon in the event of an emergency that could overwhelm healthcare capabilities.
Jackson County is working with local hospitals and healthcare providers to address any increased demand for services, including creation of alternate care points to receive patients. A Medical Reserve Corps was recently created in Jackson County to recruit and coordinate volunteers. Healthcare workers can pre-register via Oregon's Volunteer Healthcare Registry to help provide medical care during public health emergencies.
