|Jackson County Property Tax Bills
On Friday, October 22, Jackson County mailed the 2004-05 property tax bills to all owners of taxable property in the county. The due date for the first property tax payment is Monday, November 15th. If a property owner has not received a bill by November 1, they should contact the Jackson County Payment Center at 541-774-6541. In Oregon, failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve you of the responsibility to pay taxes or comply with established due dates.
“Regarding the due date, if you mail early you can also avoid postmark problems,” says Jackson County Finance Director, Gary Cadle. “Each year, we receive property tax payments shortly after the due date, but when the envelopes are postmarked after November 15 the taxpayers lose their discount and begin accruing delinquent interest. That’s why the postmark is so important. It definitely pays to mail early.”
As in prior years, the payments that property owners make to Jackson County are sent to the U.S. Bank processing center in Portland where the money is deposited directly into a Jackson County account. Payments made by check may also be dropped-off at any Jackson County branch of PremierWest Bank.
Taxpayers receive a 2% discount with a 2/3 payment and a 3% discount with a full payment, if postmarked on or before November 15th.
For tax payment information, the public may contact the Jackson County Payment Center, at (541) 774-6541.
