Q: How do I find out how much property tax I owe. A: Outstanding property tax amounts can be obtained by phone from the Payment Center at 541-774-6541, or online from this web site, go to the finance deparment section, click on the Tax Payment online link on the left, or the Visa, Mastercard symbol in the upper right corner of the screen, and follow the instruction.
 Top Q: Where can I get information about property tax foreclosures? A: Property tax foreclosure information follows below, for mortgage company foreclosures, check the legal section of the local newspaper, and contact the trustee listed in the newspaper notice.
1. There is normally only one public auction per year held in the in the fall, the actual date varies. The auction is held in the morning at 10:00 am in the courthouse auditorium.
2. The auction is advertised in the Mail Tribune four consecutive week’s before the sale.
3. Registration for the sale takes place from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. the morning of the auction.
4. Properties are offered for sale with a minimum bid specified. This minimum bid is usually set at approximately 70% of the market value. They are not sold for the amount of back taxes.
5. Payment in full is required at the time of sale on properties with a closing bid under $10,000. Properties with a closing bid in excess of $10,000 will have the option of purchasing on contract. Purchasers are requested to pay by cash, cashier’s check, or money order. A down payment of 10% or $200 (whichever is greater) can be made, with the remainder of the purchase price or down payment due within five business days. The down payments are non-refundable, and all purchases are considered final.
6. A Certificate of Sale is issued to the purchaser at the time of sale, with a quit claim deed being prepared within 180 days of the auction. We make no warranty on these properties, and we do not provide title insurance.
7. In the state of Oregon, a previous owner’s right of redemption ends at the time the property is deeded to the county. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to determine the existence of any other existing liens.
8. Any person desiring to bid may do so in person, or may send a representative to bid for him/her.
9. Those properties which do not sell at auction may possibly be offered later at a private sale.

 Top Q: Where can I pay Property Taxes? A:
- Paying in person, taxes can be paid in person at 10 S Oakdale Ave, room 111A, Medford, Oregon, in the Payment Center. Payment center regular business hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday, except on legal holidays. Payment center is open extended hours during the property tax season. Extened hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm, from the time of certification, to the November 15th due date.
- Paying after business hours, a secure night deposit box is avaliable 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Night deposit box drop slot is located to the left of the walk up window, at 10 S Oakdale Ave, on the on the back of the building. There is also a envelope slot on the entrance door of the payment center office. Envelopes are provided next walk up window, and next to the entrance door of the payment center. Night deposit box is emptied at 7:00am, payments received prior to 7:00am will recieve the previous days posting date.
- Mailing your payment, original statements and trimester notice include a self address envelope, use this for the quickest credit to your account. If you don't have the return envelope, payments can be mailed to the Payment Center PO Box 1569, Medford Oregon, 97501. Please include your account number on your check. Checks should be made out to Jackson County Payment Center. Official US Post mark will be considered as delivery date on mailed items, please mail payments early to ensure timely ppost mark.
- Online, payments can be made online with visa, master card, or e-check. Online payments are processed through an outside vendor, fees due apply. Fees are charged by the outside vendor for their services, the county receives no portion of these fees, therefor in the event of a double payment. County will refund the amount of the payment, but not the service fee. If your payment is refused for any reason you will be charged a NSF fee of $40.00.
- PremierWest Bank, payments may also dropped off at any Jackson County branch of PremierWest Bank. You must have your statement with you in order to use this service. This option is only available during the trimester payment periods, from the time the statements go out until the due dates, November 15, February 15th, and May 15th. Statements are typically sent about 15 days before the due dates.
